Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England) (RQF), Adults’ Management pathway, is for learners who have management responsibility or aspiring managers for adults in health and social care setting in England, such as:

About the Qualification

The HABC Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England) (RQF) has been accredited by Ofqual and is part of the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). QAN (Qualification Accreditation Number) is 601/4265/0. It is supported by Skills for Care, the Sector Skills Council for occupations in social care. This accredited qualification is awarded by Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC).

This nationally recognised qualification is based on the Health and Social Care National Occupational Standards (NOS). It confirms knowledge, understanding, skills and competence in management and advanced practice within health and social care and children and young people’s services and serves as the required qualification for registration and regulatory requirements in the sector where appropriate in England. This qualification replaces the previous Level 4 NVQ in Leadership and Management for Care Services, the Level 4 NVQ in Health and Social Care. It also replaces the previous 80 credits RQF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People.

How Learning is Assessed
Knowledge and Understanding are assessed through a series of questions and workbooks.

Competence and practical skills are assessed using a variety of assessment methods including:

  • Professional Discussions

Learners will be guided and supported to prepare for assessments.

How long does it take to complete the course

Completion is 6 to 12 months.


Completion and certification
On completing the full qualification, learners are awarded the Highfield Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care (RQF) by the Awarding Body, Highfield Qualifications (also known as Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance)

You must live and work in England to do this qualification.

This course is for managers and owners of health and social care organisations including

  • Managers,
  • Deputy/Assistant managers,
  • Team Leaders,
  • Supervisors,
  • Care Co-ordinators,
  • and residential care workers and managers who want to manage non-residential care settings, or start a non-residential care business.

  • and any other non-residential care settings

And all those aspiring to those job roles or similar roles in such settings.

Learners who are not in the roles listed above can still start the course, and look for part-time or full-time opportunities to perform the tasks in a real work role, including voluntary roles.

This qualification is delivered at Level 5 and learners must expect to perform at Level 5 and at an appropriate level of a Manager.

Requirements

You must live and work in England. Learners need to have access to a computer/laptop/tablet with internet access, to be able to use the e-Portfolio.

Learners need to be employed in a suitable role within the health and social care or children and young people’s sector. Those not in a management/supervisory role should move to such a job role in order to evidence their skills and competence. We can also provide management placement opportunities

Career path

Completing this qualification makes you fully qualified to manage a care facility, or health facility for adults or children. It makes you eligible for Registered Manager status with the CQC.

What does study method mean?
