Description
What does it involve?
The duration of the course is approximately 3-6 months. Students will be required to have access to 30 hours of teaching practice whilst on the course. If you have done any teaching in the past 3 months, we may be able to take this into consideration. You will be observed for 1 hour during the course on three separate occasions, we can provide an observer who will attend electronically at no extra cost. Alternatively, you can be observed by one of your colleagues as long as they are suitably qualified. There are 6 units within this course as follows;
The units are:
- Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training
- Planning to Meet the Needs of Learners in Education and Training
- Delivering Education and Training
- Assessing Learners in Education and Training
- Using Resources for Education and Training
- Developing, Using and Organising Resources in a Specialist Area
Who is this course for?
The course has been designed to introduce teaching for individuals who would like to deliver pre-prepared material to a variety of learners within a chosen subject. Moreover, this course would be suitable for individuals who are seeking career progression in their area of work or who have just started a teaching/training role. Furthermore, learners who have completed the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET), or Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) may wish to enrol on the course for further development.
Requirements
All learners must be able to meet the entry requirements to be able to complete this course:
- All learners must have access to a minimum of 30 teaching hours and three observations.
- Students must be able to demonstrate skills in numeracy and literacy at a Level 2 standard.
- You must be in-service or delivering sessions voluntarily – you will be observed in your workplace setting.
Career path
This qualification enables you to teach pre-set content as part of a curriculum in an education and training setting. This course also enables you to progress onto the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training/Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (Further Education and Skills).
