The QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care has replaced the NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care; this internationally recognised QCF is the equivalent of an A-level qualification and is the UK industry standard for those working in this sector. The course is designed for those who hold some responsibility in their workplace, and who sometimes work without supervision. Upon completion of the training, delegates will have the essential skills and competency necessary to work with adults or children across all social care settings, including primary care services, domiciliary care, residential care homes, day services and assisting supported living. Delegates will be taught essential health and social care understanding, and will then get the opportunity to tailor the course to suit them, choosing between the Adult pathway and the Children and Young People pathway. The course can be completed via e-portfolio, giving the student greater flexibility and the ability to learn at a pace that suits them.

How does assessment take place?
The course assessment includes an evaluation of work-based performance, presentation of evidence, witness statements and peer testimony, and question and answer sessions. Delegates will need to put together a portfolio of evidence demonstrating that they can achieve the course objectives to the required standard.
To assist in this, course delegates are appointed an accredited QCF assessor who helps assemble their portfolio and guide them throughout the assessment. Email and telephone support is also on hand and course resources are provided when required.
What are the entry requirements?
TutorCare is an equal opportunities provider and a potential participant only needs to have been employed in a vocational setting relevant to the occupational standards for Health and Social Care in order for them to be able to complete the qualification successfully.
How long will it take?
The course is completely flexible and we encourage students to learn at their own pace. The awarding body do stipulate that the course is completed within 36 months, but most students will successful finish the programme in around 9!
How would I progress further?
Upon completing this programme, graduates can move on to the QCF Level 4 or possibly the QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care if they are in an appropriate management position. Alternatively we offer a huge range of specialist care courses to enhance their chosen pathway.
