Unit 3: Key Nutrients and Vitamins

  • Understand the benefits and limitations of key nutrients
  • Explain the characteristics of non-nutrient foods
  • Describe the balance of good health

Unit 4: Nutritional Guidelines and Meal Planning

  • Identify the recommended daily allowances
  • Improve nutrition in children
  • Reduce health problems in children
  • Plan healthy meals and snacks

Unit 5: Digestion and Food Labelling

  • Explore the digestive structure in detail
  • Understand the importance of food labels and look at the information contained therein
  • Identify how food labels can be misleading

Unit 6: Special Dietary Needs

  • Understand influences affecting food choices
  • Identify food patterns
  • Explore health issues associated with poor diets
  • Identify barriers to dietary change
  • Understand the nutritional needs of specific groups
  • Identify food allergies and intolerances

This course can be taken over a 12 month period but you can complete it as fast or as slowly as you wish.

Assessments

To pass this course learners must pass 6 assignments. These are completed after navigating through the corresponding lessons and writing your answers to assignment questions. Once these have been read and marked by your personal tutor, feedback and marks are provided to students which contain helpful tips to improve work in future assignments.

Enrolment Length
