The Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools is available to learners aged 16+ who are interested in working within a school as a teaching assistant, classroom assistant or learning support assistant in key stage 1 or above. The aims of the course are to enable students to understand the roles and responsibilities involved in supporting teaching and learning in schools and provides an opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge required to do this effectively in a self-directed way.

It prepares learners to support the Teacher and the delivery of curriculum within a school, as well as developing skills to help children and young people to develop self-esteem, independence and skills for learning. It seeks to further develop professional and technical skills and knowledge, and an understanding of the importance of positive relationships within a school.
Who is this course for?
This qualification is designed for people who either are, or wish to become, a teaching assistant.
The Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools is a combination of online theory and a school placement. To successfully complete this qualification, every student must undertake at least 50 hours of work experience. This placement can be either voluntary or paid working with students between the ages of 5 and 15, so long as it provides the necessary evidence that the student needs to pass the course.
This qualification provides the opportunity for learners to enhance their CPD and will contribute towards developing a career within the education and training sector, focusing on supporting teaching and learning in schools.
