Overview

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) is designed to give people the knowledge and confidence to teach in the post 16 education sector. This could be as a trainer in the private training industry or as a teacher/lecturer in further education. This qualification replaces the old PTLLS course.

This is an online course. You will have access to our online portfolio with interactive content, online assessment materials and unlimited tutor support via email or telephone.

There are no specific entry requirements to complete this qualification and learners do not have to be in teaching practice. The qualification is suitable for learners age 19 years and above.

Modules:

Learners must achieve a minimum of 12 credits from three mandatory unit groups.

Group A is mandatory; Groups B and C contain optional units, some of which are taken from the Learning and Development qualification.

What will I learn?

This course meets the needs of a range of trainee teachers, including:

  • Individuals not currently teaching or training
  • Individuals currently teaching and training, including those who have just begun or are about to begin
  • Individuals currently working as assessors who wish to achieve a qualification providing an introduction to teaching

It gives learners the opportunity to:

  • Develop knowledge related to teaching and learning
  • Develop skills in teaching and learning
  • Achieve a nationally-recognised Level 3 qualification

Develop their own personal growth and engagement in teaching and learning

Course Duration:

You will have 12 Months access to your online study platform from the date you purchased the course. The course is self-paced so you decide how fast or slow the training goes. You can complete the course in stages revisiting the training at any time.

Method of Assessment:

There are 3 units to complete in which learners will submit 3 assignments which will be assessed by the course tutor and feedback given.

Learners will need to submit evidence of 1 hour of micro teaching which can be submitted as a recorded video or observation report by a mentor.

All assignments should be submitted via the online portal within four months of the course start.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

In addition to the initial payment fee, an additional fee of £239.00 is payable which is payable in instalments as follows:

£89.00 Registration fee - payable when submitting the Awarding Body registration form.

£50.00 Assessment fee for unit 1 - payable on submitting unit 1

£50.00 Assessment fee for unit 2 - payable on submitting unit 2

£50.00 Assessment fee for unit 3 - payable on submitting unit 3

Our instalments allow learners flexibility in paying for their course. The assessment fees are only payable if work is submitted. Should a learner withdraw from the course, they will not be liable for any of the assessment fees for any units which have not been submitted.

Certification:

Successful learners will be awarded a TQUK Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) certificate.

Who is this course for?

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) is an introductory teaching qualification, which prepares learners for teaching or training in a wide range of contexts. It does not develop competence, as learners are not required to be in a teaching position.

The qualification is suitable for individuals who wish to teach in the Further Education and Skills Sector and forms a foundation for those with little or no previous experience of teaching or training.

Some units from the Learning and Development suite of qualifications may be achieved within this qualification. These units require practice to be assessed in the trainee teacher’s place of work. More detail can be found in the ‘structure of the qualification’ section.

Requirements

- Access to a PC or tablet to be able to login to your online portal and access learning materials and upload evidence.

- Ability to submit evidence of at least one hour of microteaching through mentor observation or uploading a video recording.

- Be at least 19 years of age

- There may be a requirement, by a learner’s employer for them to hold a current DBS Certificate if they currently or intend to work with learners who are covered by the DBS regulations. It is the learner's responsibility to seek advice from their employer regarding this, along with attending any necessary Safeguarding information events.
