Formerly known as PTLLS, the Level 3 Award in Education and Training gives you the knowledge and qualification you need to teach. It is a nationally recognised Award, accredited through Open College Network (West Midlands). Study at your own pace in whatever environment you choose.

Understand the teaching role and responsibilities in education and training, including legislation and codes of practice
Understand how to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment
Understand relationships between teachers and other professionals.

Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training

Understand inclusive teaching and learning approaches– including comparing strengths and weaknesses of different approaches
Understand how to create an inclusive teaching and learning environment – including ways to engage and motivate learners and establish ground rules
Devise teaching plans
Deliver inclusive teaching and learning – including providing feedback
Review the effectiveness of your own delivery

Understanding Assessment in Education and Training

Understand types and methods of assessment used in education and training including comparing strengths and weaknesses of different methods
Involve learners and others in the assessment process – including looking at peer and self-assessment
Understand and use constructive feedback

Practical teaching requirements

You'll complete a Microteach, which is a 15 minute session on a subject of your choice and have this observed by the tutor. 45 minutes must be spent observing other education and training delegates and providing feedback to them. SKL Training will provide other microteaches for you to watch.

7. Distance AETCAVA

This course is ideal for teachers, tutors, trainers or anyone delivering or planning to deliver sessions.

We have helped chefs, support workers, business development professionals, health and safety trainers, nurses, hairdressers, job coaches, HR managers and in-house trainers become more effective teachers in their chosen field.

You don’t have to be in a teaching role currently to study for this qualification as the practical element is covered by the Microteach.

None! You don't need to already be in a teaching role and no previous experience is needed.

Most of our students go on to work in full time teaching positions in colleges, the NHS, in their own industries or on a freelance basis. Some have even opened their own training centres and academies!
