Overview

Certificate In Pearson BTEC Award in Education and Training - Level 3

This Pearson BTEC Award in Education and Training(Formerly PTLLS) course is a great way to get into teaching. Formerly known as PTLLS, the Award in Education and Training is a short course designed to enable a wide range of students to undertake teaching, training or learning tasks relevant to their own training or teaching situation. It is recommended for all teachers new to the sector, whether in further education, adult and community learning, work-based learning or other parts of the learning and skills sector.

This course has done great justice in exploring the role, responsibilities, and duties of a teacher. As it is important for a teacher to take on a teaching approach that best suits the subject and the students concerned, this course is set to train you on the various learning and teaching approaches to help you decide on the most suitable one. You will also be taught on how to plan sessions in advance, how to deliver engaging lessons, how to motivate pupils and how to assess them.

After the training session, you will be required to perform microteaching, so that the tutors can assess your teaching skills and work on the areas you need improvement.

It gives learners the opportunity to:

  • Develop knowledge related to teaching and learning
  • Develop skills in teaching and learning
  • Achieve a nationally-recognised Level 3 qualification
  • Develop their own personal growth and engagement in teaching and learning

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
