If working with animals has always been your dream job, the Access to HE Diploma (Land Based Science) is a level 3 qualification designed to prepare you to study a degree in animal science, veterinary nursing, zoology and other animal management related degrees. If you don’t have the grades you need to apply for university, an Access to HE Diploma will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need.

This course is specifically designed to put you on the pathway to working in animal care. You’ll learn core knowledge that will prepare you for an animal science degree, including animal handling, animal behaviour and welfare, and animal biology.

An Access to HE Diploma is made up of units that offer 45 graded credits and 15 ungraded credits. You will complete a number of assignments as part of your modules that will form your electronic portfolio. You will be assessed via formal written assignments, that will create a portfolio of work.

Requirements

You must be a resident of England.

You must hold a Level 2 qualification in Maths and English (GCSE or equivalent, including Level 2 qualifications achieved outside of England).

Applicants are normally required to hold a minimum of two Level 2 qualifications or higher. However, we may be able to consider applicants who hold an English qualification alone. Support with Functional Skills in English and/or Maths can be provided during the Access to HE course if required.
