Description

ECTA is the training centre in Stockport, where the Classroom Training takes place (first 6 weeks). We have been running these Smart Meter Courses for over 4 years and gas training for the past 16 years.

We understand that it's a huge commitment for individuals to take the plunge into a new career, especially in an industry that requires skills and qualifications, so we’ll be with you every step of the way through your training journey.

Furthermore, nobody wants to invest both time and money into training without the reassurance that there is a job waiting for them, at the end.

That's why ECTA have teamed up with an industry leading Metering Installation Company to GUARANTEE you employment from week 7 of your training.

The Employment

You be embarking on a new career to be a fully qualified Dual Fuel SMART Meter Installer with guaranteed employment (direct to the employer contracting basis) after 6 weeks at the following pay:

Mentoring/Training/Employment (week 7 onwards): £100 per day

Once Qualified and Working (week 14 onwards): £120 per day

Bonus: 2nd completed job (Dual Installation or Comms) per day: £10

3rd completed job: £30

4th completed job: £60

Working week is 45 hours

Weekly Pay (tax is deducted at source)

You will provided you with a Van, Fuel, Tools, PPE and Phone

Working week is Monday to Friday with Saturday working and bank holidays available too if required

The Training

You will be trained in both Gas and Electric SMART Metering.

You will have a mixture of classroom learning, workshop work and onsite mentoring throughout the 13 weeks.

First 6 weeks are Classroom based at ECTA Training

Second 6 weeks is when you will complete your Portfolio, locally as possible to where you live, fitting meters in Customer's homes under the supervison and direction of a fully qualified Smart Meter Installer.

During the final week, you will underatke your final examinations back at the Training Centre to gain the following:

The Qualifications

Diploma in Smart Metering (gas & electric).

Recognised Gas ACS qualifications in CMA3 & MET1

EUSR (energy and utility skills register) registered National database for metering workers.

The gas qualifications provided will allow you to be registered on the Gas Safe Register by your employer

Successful Candidates will need to have the following have

· Passion about becoming a fully qualified SMART Meter Installer

· Excellent interpersonal skills, as you will be facing customers on a daily basis.

· Clean Criminal Record

· Full Drivers Licence with no more than 3 points

· References from all former employers for a min of at least 5 years (can include educational facilities).

Course Payment Options

The full course fee of £7,440 has to be paid in full prior to a course commencing or via the Finance Option below;

Deposit: £2976 followed by 12 monthly instalments of £372

Extended Finance Option at 14.9%

There is an option to spread the cost with a lower deposit and longer repayment terms and full details will be provided upon application.

Interviews and pre-assessment

There will be a Video interview and assessment prior to any course commencing,

Interviews and Assessments take place on a live video link with ECTA Training

This interview will allow you to learn more about the course and what is involved

You will have a later opportunity to meet the trainers and see where the training takes place.

You will be tested (30-40 minutes), which includes:

· Colour Vision Test

· A Written test to check your English Language and Mathematical Skills

Other useful information

Accommodation is at your own expense, although the training centre has a list of various local options to suit all budgets. This is only required for the Classroom because field mentoring will be as close as possible to where you live.

Over 400 trainees have attended and completed this course during the past 4 years. The course is designed for New Entrants with no previous experience of working within the metering or engineering industry.

There will be Interviews, Assessment Days and Courses starting every month throughout 2020
