Get up to speed with the Russian Business etiquette and hospitality with our exclusive Russian language bundle. This programme will help you reach your language learning objectives effectively.

A little bit about Russian language…

Russian is derived from the Old East Slavic, and as such, shares strong similarities with Belorussian and Ukrainian.

With the adoption of Christianity, a new alphabet was developed – the Cyrillic alphabet. Russian was standardised during the 18th century, and then simplified after the Russian Revolution of 1917.

Over 300 million people worldwide speak Russian and it is one of the five official languages of the United Nations, making it a truly global language.

Interesting facts about Russia

Russia is a land rich in literature, philosophy, classical music, ballet, architecture and technology. Located in Eurasia (the combined continental landmass of Europe and Asia), it is one of the most popular countries in the world. The official language is Russian but there are 27 other languages co-official in various regions throughout the country.

The Trans-Siberian Railway spans almost all the way across the country, making it the single longest railway in the world? The 9200km(5700 miles) railway departs in Moscow and crosses into Asia.

Russian and Business

Trade between the business world and Russia is on the rise, especially in construction, industry and information technology and despite the recent wobble with the rouble, Russians are Europe’s fastest growing outbound travel group, reaching 31.5 million trips in 2013.

When it comes to building business relationships, Russians can be very wary. It is favourable to establish relationships based on personal levels and through a social circle. Make sure you have what it takes to woo your Russian customers.

Hospitality means a lot to Russians!

FAQs

What does study method mean?

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At reed.co.uk courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

What are CPD hours/points?

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on reed.co.uk, many of which can be completed online.

What is a ‘regulated qualification’?

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

What is an ‘endorsed’ course?

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body’s logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as ABC Awards and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
