This Certificate in Principles of Working with Individuals with Learning Disabilities is suitable for learners working with, or intending to work with, individuals with learning disabilities, in a variety of areas.
The QCF qualification has now been replaced by the newer RQF qualification.

Description
This is a level 2 qualification suitable for learners working with, or intending to work with, individuals with learning disabilities. This can be in a variety of areas, including a range of community settings, domiciliary care, schools, day provision, care or nursing homes, hospitals, hospices, or other settings in which people are being cared for.
The purpose of the course is to give learners an understanding of how having a learning disability affects individuals and how you can uphold good practice to help support people to live normal lives and integrate into society.
This qualification aims to give learners the knowledge, understanding and awareness required in order to work with people with Learning Disabilities. Learners will gain an insight into supporting people with learning disabilities and the autistic spectrum. The key principles of safeguarding, positive risk taking and personalisation are explored, as well as issues surrounding healthcare.
To be awarded the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Working with Individuals with Learning Disabilities, learners are required to successfully complete six mandatory units.
