Description
Lead is a naturally occurring heavy toxic metal found in the Earth’s crust (rocks and soil), water and air. It is a soft (bluish, silvery, white or grey) lustrous metal extracted from ores dug from underground mines worldwide. However, there have been bans on certain lead products in the last century due to the associated health risks.
In the lead awareness course, you will gain knowledge on what lead is. You will look at some statistics and case studies relating to lead, highlighting the importance of controlling exposure. You will also look at the requirements for risk assessments and how to apply the assess, control and review model.
You will look at the importance of welfare facilities and what employers should provide to employees at risk of lead exposure. You will look at other control measures and why it is important to maintain, test and examine them. You will look at some of the actions required if an individual’s lead levels are too high. You will look at lead poisoning, the treatments available and further actions required.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.
