As part of both the ‘ITIL Managing Professional (MP)’ and ‘ITIL Strategic Leader (SL)’ streams, ITIL DPI is essential for obtaining intermediate ITIL 4 qualifications, as well as the rank of ‘ITIL Master’.

Exam structure

There are several points that students should keep in mind when preparing for the ITIL: Direct, Plan and Improve exam:

  • There is a time limit of 90 minutes to complete the exam
  • It is a multiple-choice 'Objective Test Question' (OTQ) exam consisting of 40 questions
  • The pass mark for the exam is 70%: you must answer 28 out of 40 questions correctly
  • The exam is closed-book (only the provided materials are permitted for use)
  • In countries where English is a second language, the time allocated for the exam is extended to 113 minutes
