Benefits of ITIL
ITIL, formerly known as the ‘Information Technology Infrastructure Library’, is one of the world’s most popular frameworks for IT Service Management (ITSM). It treats all IT functions, whether for customers, clients or even internal business users, as ‘services’. In essence, ITIL provides the guidance and tools to plan, develop, deploy and continually improve these services in a way that maximises value, efficiency and cost-effectiveness. With virtually all organisations now relying on IT in some form or another, this kind of practice can be absolutely essential for keeping customers happy and staying ahead of the competition.
However, there are also other benefits of studying the framework. ITIL 4 is both flexible and practical, helping users to accommodate changing technology as well as the relationship between business and IT. Most importantly, the ITIL 4 practitioner community is set to continue providing new insight into the changing world of ITSM, providing users with a current and highly valuable source of information going forward.
