Description

You will learn about the different agencies involved in MAPPA and how it is managed. We will cover VISOR in MAPPA and who is protected by MAPPA and from what. You will also learn about the sharing of information and the statistics of MAPPA eligible offenders.

We will explore the latest MAPPA guidelines as well as learning when and how to make a referral. You will learn about legislation for MAPPA and how MAPPA affects reoffending.

In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.

You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, This course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for 2 years.

Units covered

  • Unit 1 - Introduction to MAPPA - Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements- In the first unit we will cover MAPPA and its purpose and explore the benefits and impact of MAPPA as well as the categories managed. You will also learn the three levels of MAPPA, risk assessment and who is eligible.
  • Unit 2 - Understanding MAPPA- In this unit we will learn about risk management plans and how being under MAPPA affects the offender and how long an individual remains under MAAPA. You will learn about disclosure to the public, custody, recall and the transfer of MAPPA cases.
  • Unit 3 - Agencies involved in MAPPA - In the third unit we will explore how MAPPA is managed and who is involved. You will learn about the different agencies involved, the sharing of information and who is being protected by MAPPA and from what.
  • Unit 4 - MAPPA guidelines - In the final unit we will examine the latest MAPPA guidelines and legislation. We will then cover when and how to make a referral.

This course is suitable for anyone who want's to gain more knowledge on MAPPA and how it is managed. This may include the following people: Lay Advisers, police officers, victim liaison officers and women safety workers.

Requirements

You are required to complete a 30 question multiple choice quiz at the end of the course. Where you need to achieve at least 80% or above to pass. You can complete the quiz as many times as you need to pass.
