Description
Section 20 of the Children Act 1989 outlines the Local Authority’s duty to provide accommodation for any child in their area who requires somewhere to live.
This course, delivered by experienced child and family practitioner Alison Burge, will provide viewers with a practical guide to the grounds on which an interim care order can be made, the grounds on which children can be removed and the orders under which this can occur.
Consideration will also be given to the circumstances in which a local authority may ask parents to enter into a ‘section 20 agreement’ in order to negate care proceedings and thereby prevent the courts’ involvement to enforce removal.
This course is essential for public children law practitioners who wish to refresh their knowledge of the law, practice and procedure surrounding the interim removal of children and Section 20 Accommodation.
