Description
On completion of the course, students will gain a better understanding of Infections at work and will be provided with a solid foundation in infection control principles that can be applied in various workplace settings.
In the first unit we will cover workplace Infections and biological hazards and the risks associated with them. Students will learn to identify the different types of transmission routes and risk factors such as occupational exposure and crowded workplaces. We will also cover the legal and regulatory framework and health and safety.
Students will cover hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette and personal protective equipment as well as surface and environmental cleaning including safe food handling practices.
In the third unit we will explore the early detection and reporting of infections, data collection and analysis as well as training and key framework components. Students will also learn about effective communication and developing strategies and well as handling biological hazards.
In the final unit we will explore the best practices for maintaining a safe work environment including Risk assessment and hazard Mitigation, employee education and training, workplace policies and procedures and continuous improvement and monitoring.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.
You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.
Units covered
- Unit 1 – Introduction - Understanding Workplace Infections and Biological hazards - In the first unit we will cover workplace infections and biological hazards. Identify transmission routes and common types of infections as well as cover the legal and regulatory framework.
- Unit 2 - Introduction - Infection Prevention and Control Measures - In this unit we will cover hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette and personal protective equipment as well as surface and environmental cleaning and safe food handling practices.
- Unit 3 - Introduction - Managing Infectious Outbreaks and Biological Hazards in the Workplace - In the third unit we will learn about the early detection and reporting of infections in the workplace and how to handle biologically hazardous materials.
- Unit 4 - Introduction - Creating a Safe Work Environment - In the final unit we will cover risk assessment and hazard mitigation, employee training and and work place policies and procedures.
