The aim of this unit is to enable the learner to gain an understanding of the legal profession and the common procedures which take place in a legal environment.
Through this unit, the learner will understand:
- The different roles in the legal profession
- How correspondence and post are dealt with
- How to record information through memos and attendance notes
- How legal forms and documents are produced
- How to make copies of documents
- The task of file opening
- How to file documents and keep a reminder system
- Case management systems
- The billing of clients and payment of fees
- How legal research is performed
- The protocol of attending court
- How a conflict of interest is dealt with
- The importance of confidentiality and using common sense

Requirements
