Main course content

This course offers a fully accredited qualification recognised by Sage, the International Association of Book-Keepers, and very importantly; employers. Our small class sizes will guarantee you will receive one-to-one support throughout your time with us. Block study packages for work groups are also available to save on time and cost.

• The completion of the VAT return and VAT control account
• Accounting for stock valuation
• Mark up and Margin
• Capitalisation of cost
• Accounting for accruals and prepayments
• The purpose and use of suspense accounts
• The compilation of financial statements
• Accounting for partnerships
• The budgeting process

Main course content (Section 2 Computerised Accounts)

• Enter data into accounting package
• Customer and supplier invoices and credit notes
• Customer and supplier payments
• Journal entry
• Correct errors
• Bank reconciliation
• Produce documents
• Maintain petty cash
• Produce reports
• Data storage and security
• Stock valuation adjustments
• Accounting for non-current assets
• Calculating and Posting depreciation
• Reversing journals for accruals and prepayments
• Amending the chart of accounts

Cost includes: IAB registration and exam fee, all study resources, computer software and qualification certificate.

The course is not for the faint-hearted and requires dedication on your part to want to progress through the levels to where you need to be. It is, without question, a fact that qualifications in the field of payroll will open doors to earning very good salaries and future promotions.

This course is designed to appeal to those individuals who are new to payroll and want to gain an understanding of payroll principles and wish to become professional senior payroll processors. It will also offer certification for those who have good experience of working in the payroll environment but have not, as yet, gained a recognised qualification.

There are no formal entry requirements; however, it is important that you have good basic skills in numeracy and literacy which will be assessed during the enrolment session.

You will also need to be computer-literate, with the ability to move around a computer screen with confidence.

Should you be working in an accounting environment you will find that this qualification gives you a very solid background knowledge of the theory of accounting and double entry. It covers the higher level requirements for a senior accounts clerk. Salaries range from £20,000 to £28,000 based upon experience and qualifications.
