The Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care (RQF) is a fully recognised qualification that introduce learners to knowledge around areas relating to health and social care. The completed qualification is certificated by the Awarding Body, Highfield Qualifications, also known as HABC - Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance.

This recognised qualification is aimed at learners who want to work in any type of care settings, such as, adult social care, health care, domiciliary care, other community care settings, in England and Northern Ireland.

Learners must provide us with an address in England or Northern Ireland where their hard-copy certificates will be sent.

You don't need to be working in a job to study this recognised qualification.

Successful learners can work as Care Assistant, or Care Support Worker, in any health and social care setting.

The unit introduces the importance of communication in adult social care settings, and ways to overcome barriers to meet individual needs and preferences in communication.
This unit is aimed at those who are interested in, or new to, working in social care settings with adults.

Unit 2: Principles of personal development in adult social care settings - L/602/3035

The unit introduces the concept of personal development which is fundamental to adult social care. This unit is aimed at those who are interested in, or new to, working in social care settings with adults.

Unit 3: Principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care settings - H/602/3039

This unit introduces the concept of inclusion, which is fundamental to working in adult social care settings. This unit is aimed at those who are interested in, or new to, working in social care settings with adults.

Unit 4: Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care - A/601/8574

This unit is aimed at those working in a wide range of settings. This unit introduces the important area of safeguarding individuals from abuse. It identifies different types of abuse and the signs and symptoms that might indicate abuse is occurring. It considers when individuals might be particularly vulnerable to abuse and what a learner must do if abuse is suspected or alleged.

Unit 5: Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings - H/601/5474

This unit is aimed at those who work in health or social care settings or with children or young people in a wide range of settings. It introduces the concept of duty of care and awareness of dilemmas or complaints that may arise where there is a duty of care.

Unit 6: Understand the role of the social care worker - A/602/3113

This unit is aimed at those who are interested in, or new to working in social care settings. It provides the knowledge required to understand the nature of working relationships, working in ways that are agreed with the employer, and working in partnership with others.

Unit 7: Understand person-centred approaches in adult social care settings - J/602/3180

This unit introduces the concept of person centred support as a fundamental principle of social care. This unit is aimed at those who are interested in, or new to, working in social care settings with adults.

Unit 8: Understand health and safety in social care settings - R/602/3179

This unit is aimed at those who are interested in, or new to, working in a social care setting. It introduces knowledge and understanding of areas of health and safety required to working in a social care setting.

Unit 9: Understand how to handle information in social care settings - Y/602/3118

This unit introduces knowledge required for good practice in recording, storing and sharing information in a social care setting. This unit is aimed at those who are interested in, or new to, working in social care settings.

How Learning is Assessed
The learner's knowledge and understanding are assessed through a series of written questions and workbooks which are assessed by a qualified Assessor within the e-Portfolio.

Learners will be guided and supported to prepare for assessments.

There are no workplace visits. All assessments will be done and signed off by the Assessor, and there is no need to involve your Manager or your Employer.

Completion and Certification, according to RQF rules for regulated qualifications

On completion, the learner's portfolio of assessment evidence is quality-assured by the IQA (Internal Quality Assurer) according to the rules of RQF (Regulated Qualifications Framework).

After the IQA has signed off the learner's work as meeting the standards, the portfolio of evidence is submitted to the Awarding Body, Highfield Qualifications. The awarding body EQA (External Quality Assurer, equivalent to external examiner) will then conduct external quality assurance, according to the rules of RQF (Regulated Qualifications Framework). The awarding body then signs off the learner's work as completed according to Ofqual regulations.

The learner is then awarded qualification certificates for the Highfield Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care (RQF) by Highfield Qualifications (Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance).

The learner gets two certificates (all included in the fees paid, so no extra payment needed):

• A digital certificate, issued by the awarding body, Highfield Qualifications
• A hard copy certificate, issued by the awarding body, Highfield Qualifications. We post this original hard-copy certificate by registered mail to the learner, because it is the only original and cannot be lost.
