Description
On completion of the course, students will gain a better understanding of Health and Safety in Construction.
Students will learn about the importance of Health and Safety in the construction industry and how to create safer work environments as well as the legal frameworks, risk assessment and Safe working practices. We will cover incident reporting, site organization, personal protective equipment and safe work practices.
Students will learn about hazard identification and risk mitigation, and the associated documentation. We will explore the hierarchy of controls and continuous monitoring and improvement in maintaining a safe construction environment.
We will explore the safe handling of tools and machinery, personal protective equipment and its application, Students will also learn about fall protection and working at heights as well as fire safety and emergency procedures.
Finally students will also learn about emergency response, first aid and construction site emergency procedures as well as handling medical emergencies on construction sites and incident reporting.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.
You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.
Units covered
- Unit 1 – Introduction to Health and Safety in Construction – In the first unit we will cover the importance of health and safety in the construction industry, exploring safe working practices, legal frameworks and risk assessment as well as incident reporting.
- Unit 2 – Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment – In this unit we will learn about the various aspects and types of hazard identification, risk assessment and risk mitigation. We will also cover site specific assessment and the hierarchy of controls.
- Unit 3 – Safety Procedures and Equipment – In the third unit we will cover personal protective equipment and the safe handling and use of tools and machinery. We will also cover fire safety and emergency procedures as well as handling hazardous materials.
- Unit 4 – Emergency Response and First Aid – In the final unit we will cover first aid basics for construction workers, site emergency procedures, handling medical emergencies and incident reporting as well as the post emergency assessment framework.

You are required to complete a 30 question multiple choice quiz at the end of the course. Where you need to achieve at least 80% or above to pass. You can complete the quiz as many times as you need to pass.
