Description
On completion of the course, students will gain an understanding of health and safety for vulnerable workers. You will explore what a vulnerable worker is, how to identify and support a vulnerable worker. You will discover how vulnerabilities can increase the risk of workplace accidents.
You will learn about the UK health and safety laws, the legislation and regulations that apply to vulnerable workers. We will explore how employers can reduce or eliminate risks to vulnerable workers through effective training, risk management and workplace adjustments.
We will cover the training and supervision of vulnerable workers and how to tailor the training for specific needs. You will also learn about safe working practices such as reasonable adjustments and risk assessments and how to maintain a safe workplace for all workers.
You will learn from case studies how a vulnerable worker can be protected and the benefits to the employer. We will cover how employers can create positive and inclusive workplaces that promote health and safety for all workers
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.
You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.
Units covered
- Unit 1 - Introduction to Health and Safety for Vulnerable Workers - In the first unit we will cover what is meant by a vulnerable worker and how vulnerabilities increase the risk of workplace accidents, injuries and work-related ill health.
- Unit 2 - The Law and Legislation for Vulnerable Workers - In this unit we will focus on UK laws and legislation relating to health and safety at work and how they apply to vulnerable workers.
- Unit 3 - Training and Supervision for Vulnerable Workers - In the third unit we will explore best practice for training vulnerable workers including the advice from the health and safety executive and the types of training that can be beneficial.
- Unit 4 - Safe Working Practices for Vulnerable Workers - In the final unit we will cover the risk assessments, what they are and how to complete an effective risk assessment. You will also learn about reasonable adjustments and how to create safe ergonomic workplaces.

Requirements
