Description
On completion of the course, students will gain knowledge about health and safety for driving and riding at work, the laws applicable to these activities and the hazards that drivers and riders can face.
We will cover the benefits of managing road related health and safety and the law and policy. You will learn about identifying hazards, vehicle condition, time pressure, and risk assessment.
We will cover competence and capability, licences, fitness to drive and ride, and you will aslo learn about defensive driving. We will cover vehicle suitability, POWDER check, journey planning and drivers hours rules as well as weather conditions.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.
You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.
Units covered
- Unit 1 - Introduction to Health and Safety for Driving and Riding at Work - In the first unit we will cover the benefits of managing road related health and safety and road traffic laws that apply to driving and riding at work. We will cover employers work policies specific to their business, vehicles and risk.
- Unit 2 - Hazards and risks of driving and riding for work - In this unit we will cover hazards and identifying hazards, risk assessment, vehicle condition and maintenance. We will also cover time pressure and when it occurs.
- Unit 3 - Safe driver and rider - In the third unit you will look at various safe driving and riding considerations such as training, fitness to drive and ride and personal safety. We will also explore some health and safety considerations while driving and riding including good driving and riding practices.
- Unit 4 - Safe vehicle and safe journey - In the final unit we will look at the responsibilities of employers and employees to ensure vehicles used for work are safe. You will consider how to make journeys safer to reduce the risk to employee drivers and riders and others on public roads.
Who is this course for?
This course is aimed to those with careers that include driving and riding for work including, bus drivers, couriers, delivery drivers, emergency service workers and more.
Requirements
You are required to complete a 30 question multiple choice quiz at the end of the course. Where you need to achieve at least 80% or above to pass. You can complete the quiz as many times as you need to pass.
