Description
In our Hate Crime Awareness course, students will learn what hate crime is, how it is defined and what is involved in hate crime.
Students will cover case studies of hate crimes which highlight successful prosecutions and look at the UK statistics on hate crime and causes of hate crime. You will learn about the types of hate crime and who is more vulnerable to hate crime. You will cover how hate crimes affect victims and families and who the perpetrators are.
Students will cover the law and legislation relating to hate crime, the reporting of hate crimes as well as what happens after reporting a hate crime. You will learn about the sentencing of hate crime.
You will look at what measures are taken to prevent hate crime and what you can do as an individual as well as the support that is available for those affected by hate crime
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.
You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.
Units covered
- Unit 1 - Introduction to hate crime - In the first unit we will cover what a hate crime is and what is involved in hate crime. We will explore case studies of hate crime, its causes and look at UK statistics.
- Unit 2 - Categories of hate crime - In this unit we will examine the types of hate crimes, who the perpetrators are and who is most vulnerable to hate crime. We will also cover how hate crime affects victims and families.
- Unit 3 - The laws relating to hate crime - In the third unit we will cover the law and legislation relating to hate crime, reporting a hate crime and what happens after a hate crime is reported. We will also explore sentencing hate crime.
- Unit 4 - Measures in the prevention of hate crime - In the final Unit we will cover what measures are being taken to prevent hate crime and what you can do as an individual. We will also discuss the support that is available to those who have been affected by hate crime.

Requirements
You are required to complete a 30 question multiple choice quiz at the end of the course. Where you need to achieve at least 80% or above to pass. You can complete the quiz as many times as you need to pass.
