Description
Taking you from the basics, the course begins with an examination of what gemology is, its history, the laws and regulations that govern it and education and certifications common in the field. We’ll look at where gemstones are located, how they are mined, and their classifications.
We’ll take an in-depth look at diamonds – the history of the industry and the cut, colours, clarity and carats of diamonds. We’ll consider how and why synthetic gemstones are created and learn about the factors that contribute to the value of a particular gemstone.
The Gemology Diploma Course also walks you through some of the practical aspects of the subject. We’ll look at gemstone structure, gemology tools and how to use them, and how gemstones are cut, including various techniques. The course concludes with an exploration of different gemology careers.
