Since the implementation of the European Data Protection Regulation on May 25, 2018, almost every business in the EU or businesses outside the EU who handle EU citizens data, have changed their policies and procedures on data handling. So, although the UK has left the EU if you are a business who handles EU citizens data you have to comply with the GDPR. There are strict regulations around how data is collected, how citizens should consent, and the use of their data. In addition, how long the data is kept for and who has access to it.
