Description
On completion of the course, students will gain an understanding of gas safety at work and the responsibilities under health and safety laws.
We will explore what gas safety means and why gas safety is important. You will learn about gas use and the different types of gas. We will cover how gas can be produced naturally, accidently and from certain processes.
You will learn about hazards and risks, gas leaks, compressed gases. We will explore health and safety at work, hazardous gases laws and gas and appliances and fittings.
You will learn about the hierarchy of hazard controls and workplace exposure limits. We will cover inspection and maintenance and emergency procedures.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.
You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.
Units covered
- Unit 1 - Introduction to Gas Safety - In the first unit we will cover what is meant by gas safety and why it is important. We will examine the different types of gas and where they are found. You will learn about employer and employee responsibilities.
- Unit 2 - Gas Hazards and Risks - In this unit you will be introduced to gas hazards and risks and learn what these terms mean. We will look at the hazards associated with the different types of gas and activities.
- Unit 3 - Gas Safety Laws - In the third unit we will cover the laws surrounding gas safety at work, you will look at general health and safety legislation and laws that are specific to gas and its hazards and risks.
- Unit 4 - Gas precautions and safe working - In the final unit we will cover the prevention, control and reduction of the risks associated with gases in the workplace. You will learn about what duty holders must do regarding inspection and maintenance. Finally you will look at accidents, incidents and emergencies and what to do in these situations.

This course is primarily for those wanting more of an understanding of gas safety at work and the responsibilities under health and safety laws.
Requirements
You are required to complete a 30 question multiple choice quiz at the end of the course. Where you need to achieve at least 80% or above to pass. You can complete the quiz as many times as you need to pass.
