Functional skills level 2 courses are a good way to obtain a GCSE equivalent that enhances employment prospects but also enables learners to gain access on to further and higher education courses.

Functional Skills Course and Exam
Our functional skills level 2 qualifications are obtained through our course and an online exam that you can take at home. We offer flexible booking times so that you can take your exam during the day, evenings or even at a weekend if required. MME is committed to offering the cheapest online functional skills courses and exams.
Study Hours
It takes around 45 hours of study to complete each level 2 course; however we do have learners who skip the course materials and go straight to the exam, so it really depends on your starting level as to how much time you will need to commit.
Course Materials
The MME course materials are freely available for all students to access. From practice questions to past exam papers, we have a wealth of materials for you to use.
Assessment
The maths and English exams are made up of 4 exams in total, 1 for maths and 3 for English. The maths exam is 2 hours long, consisting of a 30 minutes non-calculator section and a 90 minute calculator section.
Results
After the exam, if you are successful, a formal qualification will be awarded. This qualification can be used to gain access on to further education courses or to help applications to specific jobs. You will receive your results via email and then a certificate shortly after this. If you need to resit, we have a dedicated resit service where we reduce the cost of your exam and provide additional support for your second exam.

Hi Kingsley This will be dependent on the course you are applying to. To gain admission into any University you will need a GCSE in maths or English or an equivalent. The functional skills are equivalents and are accepted by many course providers.

What is a ‘regulated qualification’?
A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.
What is an ‘endorsed’ course?
An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body’s logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
