This qualification is designed for learners who have a responsibility for the care of children and babies on a professional level, such as in a nursery, as a childminder, school etc. The aim of the qualification is for the learner to attain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of first aid situations.

This qualification fulfils the requirements for first aid training detailed in the Department for Education’s Statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. This qualification meets Ofsted requirements but it si the employer’s responsibility to ensure they have adequate cover for their establishment with both 2-day and 1-day paediatric first aiders.
