Accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and the Royal Environmental Health Institute Scotland (REHIS) this MSc Environmental Health course is a crucial first step in becoming a qualified environmental health practitioner.
This course has 3 intakes per year: September, January and May.
This course addresses the need for environmental health professionals who are able to critically evaluate risks posed by the stressors of environmental health through using a full range of sustainable interventions that lead on to protect human health and promote wellbeing.
This course is also ideal for professionals in this field of study who are looking to develop the necessary skills and knowledge needed to evaluate the risks posed by environmental health hazards, or stressors, which impact on human health and the environment. With an international context throughout the course you will gain a range of transferable skills that enable you to work with a vast range of organisation from non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to community based projects in local areas or developing countries.
The online MSc Environmental Health course consists of three progressive stages:
- Environmental Health Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits)
- Environmental Health Postgraduate Diploma (60 credits)
- Environmental Health MSc (60 credits)
Interactive and practical learning

Who is this course for?
This online Environmental Health MSc course addresses the need for environmental health professionals who are able to understand and evaluate the risks posed by the stressors of the environmental health, through equipping you with the knowledge, expertise and skills needed to take on and enhance your role as a professional in this field of study.
Applicants should normally have:
- A minimum of a lower second class (2:2) Honours degree in a pure or applied science (or combination) of a UK university, the CNAA (Council for National Academic Awards) or an overseas equivalent.
- Qualifications and experience considered to be equivalent to the above. All students applying via this route will be assessed and where necessary will to speak to the Academic Lead via a phone call or Skype.
This course will open up various career opportunities for you in the UK and overseas. A popular career choice is to work as an Environmental Health Practitioner in local government but there are opportunities in the private sector such as international food retailers and the hospitality and leisure industry. There are also opportunities to work in Public Health and in the Health Protection Agency.
