Overview
This Education and Training Award is an introductory course in teaching and education. It’s well suited to those not yet in a teaching role who want to get a taste of what this profession entails and prepare for a career in teaching in the future. In this course, you’ll develop a greater understanding of your role and responsibilities as well as the duties usually involved with teaching.
You’ll also learn processes and procedures used in teaching which can help you master your profession. Learning the best approaches for flexible teaching techniques is also an important part of the profession in the UK, and a component of this course. Throughout the course, you’ll understand how to plan a session, and how to create an inclusive, motivated environment as well as different assessment methods.

Description
- Understand your own role, responsibilities and the boundaries of those in relation to teaching
- Understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches for the context of flexible learning in your specialist area
- Demonstrate session planning skills
- Understand how to provide inclusive sessions which motivate learners
- Understand the use of different assessment methods and the need for record-keeping

- Unit 1 - Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training
- Unit 2 - Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training
- Unit 3 - Session Planning and Micro Teach Skills
- Unit 4 - Understanding assessment in education and training
(Please note: Unit 3 is aimed at preparing you for the micro-teach and as such it doesn’t have any assignments attached. Unit 3 is still required to complete the course.)
