The course begins with child development and learning, exploring key development theories, observation and assessment approaches, learning through play, and supporting children with additional needs.
Safeguarding and welfare of children examine child protection principles, health and safety in early years settings, promoting positive behaviour, and supporting children’s nutrition and wellbeing.
Curriculum and pedagogy introduce planning and implementing the Early Years Foundation Stage, effective teaching strategies, differentiated instruction, and early literacy and numeracy development.
Working with families and communities focuses on building positive relationships with families, involving parents in learning, engaging with local communities, and understanding multi-agency working.
Leadership and management explore leadership concepts in early years settings, managing staff and resources, quality assurance, continuous improvement, and legal and ethical responsibilities.
Reflective practice and continuous professional development address reflective learning, goal setting, professional growth, staying updated with best practice, and career development in early years education.
Upon successful completion of the Early Years Education Foundations Level 3 course, learners receive a free digital certificate from Reed confirming course completion. A provider-issued certificate is also available following verification, with optional premium certificates and academic transcripts available separately.
