Aims & Objectives

The aims of our CPC training course is to ensure that existing drivers achieve 35 hours of periodic training, which will enable the candidate to achieve their Driver Qualification Card (DQC) and the right to drive professionally within the European Union.

Prerequisites

The Driver CPC training 5 day course is suitable for category "C" licence holders only.

Who Should Attend

This periodic training is aimed at drivers, who have acquired a licence and have to undertake 35 hours of training every 5 years to ensure their Driver CPC is current and they hold a Drivers Qualification Card (DQC).

Content

  • The Driver CPC course is made up of 5 individual days, each lasting 7 hours in training.

A driver wishing to gain their driver qualification card must complete all 5 days (in total, 35 hours training). The lists of days available are:

- Module 1 – CPC Link Core & Drivers Hours Tachographs Training

- Module 2 – CPC Bulk Haulage Operations & Individual Performance Loads Training

- Module 3 – CPC Customer Service & Fire Awareness Training

- Module 4 – CPC Vehicle Banksman & Manual Handling Training

- Module 5 – CPC Emergency First Aid at Work

The order of structure of the modules above may change - all of the content within this week will still be learnt.

Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
