Overview

Collection construction refers to the construction of wastewater collection systems that systematically collects used water from houses, industries and business and transports it to water treatment points. Constructing a wastewater collection system is a huge responsibility, as a small defect might impact the whole society. Therefore, South London College has introduced this Diploma in Collection Construction – Level 4 to help you master the whole construction process to gain prominence and recognition within the industry.

This in-depth course will provide insights into wastewater collection by educating you on gravity sanitary sewers, flow monitoring, flow capacity, flow infiltration and inflow and dye testing. You will get to learn about low pressure system and its operation, followed by modules that will cover hydraulic principles, general pumping fundamentals and pump categories. The wastewater collection rules and regulations and the summary of clean water act will also be duly discussed through this course to enlighten you on the legal aspects of the construction process.

This course is a great opportunity for you to get your hands on the CMOM program, along with its elements and audits. This course will also provide you with the opportunity to learn about confined space entry programme, permit and its duties and responsibilities, after which the evacuation and trenching aspect of collection construction will be given the spotlight.

The course has been endorsed under the ABC Awards and Certa Awards Quality Licence Scheme. This means that Global Edulink* has undergone an external quality check to ensure that the organisation and the courses it offers, meet defined quality criteria. The completion of this course alone does not lead to a regulated qualification* but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills gained. The Learner Unit Summary may be used as evidence towards Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this subject. To this end the learning outcomes of the course have been benchmarked at Level 4 against level descriptors published by Ofqual, to indicate the depth of study and level of demand/complexity involved in successful completion by the learner.

The course itself has been designed by Global Edulink* to meet specific learners’ and/or employers’ requirements which cannot be satisfied through current regulated qualifications. ABC Awards & Certa Awards endorsement involves robust and rigorous quality audits by external auditors to ensure quality is continually met. A review of courses is carried out as part of the endorsement process.
