Learning outcomes

  • You will understand the two main types of diabetes and the differences between type 1 and type 2
  • You will know the factors that puts someone at risk of developing diabetes, and what it means to be 'pre-diabetic'
  • You will be able to advise and support individuals on reducing the risk of developing diabetes, and lifestyle changes that can increase the likelihood of remission for people with type 2 diabetes
  • You will feel better able to spot the signs and symptoms of diabetes, hyperglycaemia, and hypoglycaemia
  • You will understand the importance of blood glucose testing, and regularly checking the condition of feet and eyes
