Overview
Current estimates put the number of people diagnosed with diabetes in the UK at 3.5 million.
As a care practitioner, it is likely you will be supporting someone with diabetes so it is important you understand the disease and how best to manage it. This course covers type 2 prevention and remission, diabetic checks and monitoring, and identifying and responding to a hyper or a hypo.

Learning outcomes
- You will understand the two main types of diabetes and the differences between type 1 and type 2
- You will know the factors that puts someone at risk of developing diabetes, and what it means to be 'pre-diabetic'
- You will be able to advise and support individuals on reducing the risk of developing diabetes, and lifestyle changes that can increase the likelihood of remission for people with type 2 diabetes
- You will feel better able to spot the signs and symptoms of diabetes, hyperglycaemia, and hypoglycaemia
- You will understand the importance of blood glucose testing, and regularly checking the condition of feet and eyes
