The course begins with an introduction to dental assisting, including dental terminology and basic anatomy and physiology of the head and neck. Infection control principles are introduced to highlight hygiene awareness, cross-contamination prevention, and safety responsibilities in dental environments.
Chairside assisting techniques are explored from an awareness perspective, including instrument transfer, suctioning techniques, and isolation methods, emphasising workflow support and patient comfort rather than hands-on clinical competence.
Dental materials and equipment introduce commonly used instruments, cements, impression materials, and dental units, helping learners understand their purpose and handling considerations. Radiology awareness focuses on radiation safety procedures and the principles behind taking and processing dental radiographs, without providing authority to perform radiographic procedures.
Basic administrative procedures introduce appointment scheduling, patient record management, and insurance processing, highlighting the importance of organisation, confidentiality, and communication in dental practices.
Assessment and a final exam evaluate learners’ understanding of dental assistant roles, clinical support principles, safety awareness, and administrative responsibilities.

Upon successful completion of the Dental Assistant Awareness and Clinical Support Principles course, learners receive a free digital certificate confirming course completion.
