Overview

The Level 1 Award Health and Safety In A Construction Environment is an accredited course. The Course is accredited by Pearson Edexcel.

The aim of this qualification is to help you understand how health and safety working practices are incorporated into a construction environment. Learners will demonstrate that they can identify hazards and risks associated with the site environment. Learners will also understand the regulatory processes and procedures that must be followed by all site staff and operatives.

This qualification is one of the requirements for anyone wishing to gain of the new CSCS Green Card, which came into force July 2014

If you are looking to apply for a CSCS Labourer card, you will need the following;

  • QCF Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment
  • You will also need to pass the Operatives CITB Health Safety & Environment test

The CSCS card is valid for 5 years.

What Topics Are Covered

The course is split into the following modules

  • The purpose of risk assessments and method statements
  • Legal requirements of risk assessments and method statements
  • Common causes of work related fatalities and injuries.
  • Implications of not preventing accident or ill health at work
  • Importance of reporting accidents and near misses
  • Accident reporting procedures
  • Safe manual handling in the work place
  • Injuries and ill health that occur from incorrect manual handling
  • Working at height

Study Hours

This is a 40-hour course. Your completion is dependent on the amount of time you dedicate to the course. We have had learners complete the course within 4 days. Please also allow an extra 3 to 4 hours in total for both the assignment and the assessment quizzes.

You will receive your certificate within 3 weeks of completing your course. You will need to fully complete all modules, assignments and pass all elements within the course to receive your certificate.

Your certificate is awarded by Pearson Edexcel and your certificate will bear the formal title BTEC Level 1 Award in Health and Safety In A Construction Environement (QCF)
