Course overview

The Energy Engineer & Renewable Energy Course provides a comprehensive overview of traditional and sustainable energy systems, equipping learners with detailed knowledge about both non-renewable and renewable sources.

As the UK continues its transition towards a net-zero future, the demand for energy professionals who understand the entire energy mix is growing rapidly. This course combines two interlinked subject areas – energy engineering and renewable energy – to build an in-depth perspective of how power is generated, managed, and shifted towards sustainability.

• The Energy Engineer component starts with the history of energy use, moving into conventional sources such as fossil fuels, before transitioning into renewable technologies like solar, wind, and ocean energy. Learners will explore fuel cells and how renewable energy is applied in real-world scenarios.

• The Renewable Energy section builds further, diving into bioenergy, geothermal, tidal power, and the environmental effects of energy systems.

Together, both courses give learners a broad technical background as well as awareness of policy, sustainability goals, and future directions. This dual-track learning structure ensures learners can confidently engage with both engineering and environmental contexts of energy management.
