In organizations, communication follows paths or channels. The communication between managers and subordinates is known as vertical communication because the information flows up or down the hierarchy, while communication that takes place at the same levels of hierarchy in an organization is called lateral communication, i.e., communication between peers, between managers at the same levels or between any horizontally equivalent organizational member.
