Overview

The aim of this course is to provide delegates with the knowledge and understanding of the role and responsibilities of a forklift truck operator. The course provides theoretical and practical knowledge to safely operate a lift truck.

Course media

Description

The course will comprise theoretical and practical instruction covering the following:-

  • Responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER 98 & LOLER 98
  • Operators Safety Code
  • Battery maintenance and charging procedures
  • Pre-use checks
  • Factors affecting stability
  • Motive controls
  • Hydraulic controls
  • Manoeuvring in open and confined areas
  • Stacking at different levels
  • Destacking with laden and unladen pallets
  • Lorry loading and unloading

On completion of training the candidate will be able to:-

  • Drive and operate the lift truck safely and efficiently
  • Stack and de-stack at various levels in a safe and competent manner
  • Carry out pre-use checks to ensure the equipment is in a safe condition
  • Carry out battery maintenance and charging procedures
  • Load and unload vehicles

Who is this course for?

B1 Counterbalance Forklift Truck Training course is aimed at delegate who wants to learn and work as Forklift Operator. The delegate will be able to carry out routine maintenance and be able to lift and transfer loads in a safe and controlled manner.

Requirements

To complete the refresher training course you need to bring your existing certificate.

Each delegate is required to wear safety boots for health and safety reasons. High vests will be provided most of the times but you are welcome to use your own (if you have one).

Career path

Following successful completion of the course, the candidates will be able to apply for jobs in Warehouses, Logistics, and businesses where there is a requirement for forklift operators. Candidate can also do a conversion course from B1 Counterbance to D1 Reach Truck for example (with additional cost).
