Description
About this course
In 2014 the BACP carried out some research to find out more about people’s attitudes towards counselling and psychotherapy. Some of the key findings included:
- 28% of people have consulted a counsellor or psychotherapist (up from 21% in 2010)
- 54% of respondents said that they, a family member, friend or work colleague have consulted a counsellor or psychotherapist
- 69% of people think the world would be a better place if people talked about their feelings more.
You will learn the distinctive differences and similarities between the approaches. These techniques are not universal and vary from topic to topic.

Questions and answers
Would this course be approved by the BACP or UKCP for the purposes of getting a job in future?
Answer:Hi Jack Thank you for getting in touch with us. None of our Counselling courses are BACP-approved, as BACP have their own courses. You can practice Counselling with our courses but you would just not be BACP approved. To be able to register as a counsellor with BACP, you need to have completed a practical element of a course. So after this course you would need to complete a short course with BACP which involves practical elements where you can gain your experience to be a counsellor.
This was helpful. Is this course regulated please?
Answer:Hi Sara Thank you for your message. Unfortunately, this course is not a regulated course, it is more of a standard, introductory course. I would instead recommend any of our NCFE, CACHE, TQUK courses as these ones are fully recognised and Ofqual regulated. Please do let me know if you have any further queries at all and I will be happy to assist. Meg @ OLC.
