Overview

This COSHH for Construction course is designed to raise your skills and awareness of working with, and around, hazardous substances when on a Construction site.

The learning objectives within this course are important for employees to understand because the health risks from hazardous substances are many and varied. For example, infections caused by bacteria and viruses, allergies, poisoning or toxic effects. Eyes can become damaged from foreign bodies such as dust or flying particles.

Hazardous substances can cause both immediate and long-term health problems. For example, a cleaner splashing bleach on their skin could cause a burn or inflammation of the skin. However, a splash in the eye could cause permanent eyesight damage.

Additionally, the long-term effects of exposure to certain substances may not be noticeable immediately but develop over time into illnesses such as dermatitis, asthma and cancer.

COSHH regulations required employers to provide appropriate training to their staff. This course is designed to fulfil this requirement for those working in the construction sector.
