What You Get From Each Lesson

Lesson 1 – Pre-Pigmentation

Using a training head, Tracy demonstrates the correct application of pre-pigmentation on bleached blonde hair, showing you how to create a darker colour. Encompassing technical skills from sectioning to regrowth-to-ends application, the end result is a gorgeously deep chestnut brown with plenty of shine. A winner with your clients!

Lesson 2 – Covering Grey Hair

Lesson 2 is all about correcting grey or resistant white hair. Showing you how to create faded tints, Tracy bleaches and adds highlights and tints to the training head. Perfect for clients who are going grey but don’t want to commit to an overall tint, this technique delivers highlights that soften the regrowth.

Lesson 3 – Lightening Dark Colour Hair

Black tint with a small regrowth is something you’ll frequently come across in the salon – and in tutorial 3 Tracy shows you how to overcome this problem, again using a training head as her model. From the breach foil process that pre-lightens the hair to the application of a base colour to blend and fuse, this is a technique that you’ll fall back on time and again.

Lesson 4 – Grown Out Bleach

Do your clients often arrive in the salon with large areas of regrowth where bleach has growth out? In lesson 4, Tracy demonstrates how to deal with this common problem on a training head, showing you how to create a softer blonder using highlights through the mid lengths and roots. The end result? A soft natural colour with golden tones that your clients will love.

Lesson 5 – Stripping Dark Hair Colour

Moving to a live model for your final lesson, Tracy shows you how to use a colour remover to take our permanent hair colour or tackle a heavy build-up of colour. Encompassing hints on colour placement, sectioning and restoring depth and tone, you’ll create a shimmering red-gold that exudes warmth and vitality.

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
