Acrylic Nail Extensions
This unit provides a complete introduction to acrylic nail systems, from their origins to professional application. Learners will explore tools and equipment, treatment theory, and step-by-step procedures, supported by video demonstrations. The unit also covers first aid, health and safety, nail anatomy, potential nail conditions, and correct aftercare, finishing with a Q&A section and guidance on progressing your acrylic skills.
Builder Gel
Focusing on structure and strength, the builder gel unit covers the history of builder gel systems, client consultation, treatment knowledge, and professional application techniques. Learners will understand how to work safely, recognise contra-indications, and deliver effective results using correct tools and equipment. Video demonstrations, aftercare advice, and next-step guidance are included.
Gel Polish
This unit introduces learners to gel polish treatments, combining theory with practical application. Topics include the history of gel polish, health and safety, anatomy and physiology, nail conditions, client consultation, and treatment procedures. Learners will follow a clear gel polish application process through video demonstrations and gain confidence in advising clients on aftercare and maintenance.
Manicure
The manicure unit covers both traditional knowledge and modern professional standards. Learners will study the history of manicures, nail anatomy, diseases and disorders, and safe working practices. Treatment knowledge, tools and equipment, client consultation, and a full manicure procedure are included, alongside a video demonstration, aftercare advice, and progression guidance.
Pedicure
This unit focuses on professional foot care treatments, including the history of pedicures, anatomy and physiology, common foot and nail conditions, and safety considerations. Learners will develop treatment knowledge, consultation skills, and practical application techniques through guided procedures and video demonstrations. The unit concludes with aftercare advice, a Q&A section, and next steps for further development.
Study method
Your course will be studied through distance learning meaning you can learn the course at a time and place that suits you. Your course materials will be available to you via the student hub. Course content is broken down between theory knowledge, video demonstration, Q&A and case study submission.
Course outcome
You will receive IPHM-accredited manicure, pedicure, gel polish, builder gel, and acrylic nail certificates, and be eligible to apply for professional insurance.
Requirements
There are no age restrictions when enrolling onto the course but you must be 18 or over to be able to apply for professional indemnity insurance.
