This is a specialist unit under the CIPD Associate Diploma in People Management. You must complete a total of 7 units to get certified for the full Diploma.

Description

You will develop understanding of practices aimed at supporting better working lives, differentiating between employee involvement and participation as well as reviewing emerging developments to inform approaches to employee voice and engagement. You will learn about conflict and misbehaviour, assessing emerging trends in conflict and industrial sanctions, third-party conciliation, mediation and arbitration. You will also learn about performance, disciplinary and grievance matters and explain the skills required for effective grievance and discipline-handling procedures. Finally, you will learn about the main provisions of collective employment law and the types of employee representation.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this unit, learners will:

  • Understand employee voice, engagement and practices to support better working lives.
  • Understand different forms of conflict behaviour and dispute resolution.
  • Understand how to manage performance, disciplinary and grievance matters lawfully.
  • Understand the role of employee bodies in employment relations.

Studying towards the Associate Diploma in People Management will help raise your credibility as an HR professional. Upon completion of this unit you will have completed one of the units needed to achieve the CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma and upon completion of the Diploma you’ll be awarded CIPD Associate Membership. The full qualification is awarded when all 7 units are completed.
