Our CIPD Level 5 Intermediate Certificate in HR Management blends a workshop based approach, with our renowned support from a fully qualified dedicated personal adviser. All our advisers hold CIPD Chartered Membership or above and have a wealth of practical HR experience. There is also extensive remote support available through our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and other resources.
This CIPD qualification provides a bridge between the Foundation and Advanced level CIPD qualifications: giving you the opportunity to consolidate your existing knowledge and skills and to stretch your learning to advance your HR career ambitions. Upon successful completion of the programme you will gain CIPD Associate Membership.
This programme will enhance your understanding of how the HR function contributes to the achievement of organisational goals and the competencies required of an effective HR professional. You will also study specialised areas of HR which include Employment Law, Improving Organisational Performance and Resourcing and Talent Planning.
Our syllabus and approach offers an ideal balance of interactive and carefully tailored workshops delivered by our specialist staff, self-directed study through bespoke learning materials designed specifically for the Intermediate level programme and by the support and guidance from your personal adviser. Also, with this mode of delivery you will benefit from interacting and networking with other HR practitioners from a wide range of sectors which will help broaden your knowledge and understanding of contemporary HR issues.
We have achieved outstanding success in our student completion rates and the feedback received from both students and CIPD quality assurance. We provide the widest choice of optional units from any CIPD centre and will offer one-to-one advice to help you make the right choice of units which play to your strengths and identify your key development areas.
We have the strongest track record in using competency based assessment where you can maximise your work experience to further promote your learning and development.
The core units will develop your understanding of organisations and the forces shaping HR practice in different contexts; explore the professional competencies required of HR professionals to identify your own personal development needs and the ability to carry out a small business case report on an HR topic that is of particular interest to you. For the areas of HR specialisms covered by the workshops, you will assess factors affecting labour market conditions, consider legal requirements and best practice issues in UK employment law and evaluate drivers for sustainable organisational performance. Throughout the programme you will utilise your analytical skills to evaluate research findings and draw informed conclusions to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the various areas of HR specialisms.

How is This Course Delivered?
We specialise in flexible learning solutions that are tailored to your needs. You can begin the programme at any time and complete it in a timescale which meets your career aspirations and work-life balance needs - anything from 8 to 12 months. As there are a number of workshop dates from which you can choose, you can pace your learning according to your own needs rather than those of a large group of learners or pre-set timetable.
Aside from the workshops, other learning methods include workbooks with reflective activities to help embed your learning, supplementary learning materials and assignments. You will also have regular contact with your personal adviser, who is allocated to you at the start of your programme, through telephone conversations, e-mail exchanges and/or Skype meetings.
How will it be assessed?
Your personal adviser will provide you with developmental feedback for each unit assessment. This feedback will guide you in terms of your progress with the unit content and advise you on your achievements and what, if any, areas could benefit from further development.
There are no exams for this qualification - each unit is assessed by the completion of a written assessment (these range from 2,500 to 3,500 words). We offer two options for assessment which include the general CIPD assignment (most suitable for students with limited people management experience) or our unique template approach which is CIPD approved (most suitable for students who have some people management experience) where work based evidence is used to support your competency in the subject area.
How we differ from other centres
Our success rate and quality standards are second to none. We consistently outperform the national average exam pass rates (for Advanced qualifications) and achieve outstanding quality assurance ratings from the CIPD. This is because we have developed a unique and rigorous process which begins with a diagnostic consultation with you as the starting point to any learning engagement. We strive to ensure students are mapped to the correct qualification and then work with them every step of the way to help them achieve success. We are the only CIPD Centre to offer all of the optional units, providing maximum flexibility and choice and you can complete the units in any order. You will be supported throughout the programme by a dedicated personal adviser, regardless of which study option you choose.

You may have already completed a CIPD Foundation Certificate or Diploma and be ready to undertake a more advanced level of study; you may be a graduate embarking on the start of your HR career or you may be an experienced HR practitioner looking to formalise your existing knowledge and skills with a recognised qualification. The CIPD Intermediate Certificate will consolidate your knowledge and skills; stretch your learning; help boost your confidence in academic writing and practice study skills to support your professional development and transition to the CIPD Advanced Level 7 Diploma in HR Management.
The CIPD Intermediate Certificate in Human Resource Management is equivalent to a second year undergraduate degree programme and could be the stepping stone to move onto CIPD Advanced Diploma Level 7 study which could then be ‘topped’ up to a full Masters.
