Upon successful completion of the programme you will gain CIPD Associate Membership.
This programme will enhance your understanding of the external factors which shape the organisational context for L & D and reflect on the competencies required of an effective L & D practitioner. Through the delivery of workshops, you will gain practical insight into carrying out core L & D activities and you will also be able to study specialised areas of L & D which are more relevant to your personal interest and/or suit your organisation’s needs by selecting optional units of your choice.
Our syllabus and approach offers an ideal balance of interactive and carefully tailored workshops delivered by our specialist staff, self-directed study through bespoke learning materials designed specifically for the Foundation level programme and by the support and guidance from your personal adviser. Also, with this mode of delivery you will benefit from interacting and networking with other L & D practitioners from a wide range of sectors which will help broaden your knowledge and understanding of contemporary L & D practice issues.
We have achieved outstanding success in our student completion rates and the feedback received from both students and CIPD quality assurance. We provide the widest choice of optional units of any CIPD centre and will offer one-to-one advice to help you make the right choice of units which play to your strengths and identify your key development areas.
We have the strongest track record in using competency based assessment where you can maximise your work experience to further promote your learning and development.
The core Units of this qualification will develop your understanding of the impact of the external environment on organisations and the implications for L & D provision, explore the professional competencies required of effective L & D practitioners to identify your own personal development needs, consider how people learn and develop your practical skills in carrying out L & D activities which include identifying development needs, designing, delivering and evaluating learning activities. How is This Course Delivered?
We specialise in flexible learning solutions that are tailored to your needs. You can begin the programme at any time and complete it in a timescale which meets your career aspirations and work-life balance needs - anything from 8 to 12 months. As there are a number of workshop dates from which you can choose, you can pace your learning according to your own needs rather than those of a large group of learners or pre-set timetable.
Aside from the workshops, other learning methods include workbooks with reflective activities to help embed your learning, supplementary learning materials and assignments. You will also have regular contact with your personal adviser, who is allocated to you at the start of your programme, through telephone conversations, e-mail exchanges and/or Skype meetings.
How will it be assessed?
Your personal adviser will provide you with developmental feedback for each unit assessment. This feedback will guide you in terms of your progress with the unit content and advise you on your achievements and what, if any, areas could benefit from further development.
There are no exams for this qualification - each unit is assessed by the completion of a written assessment (these range from 1,000 to 2,000 words) along with relevant supporting evidence such as a training session plan, observation record and evaluation methods used. We offer two options for assessment which include the general CIPD assignment (most suitable for students with limited L & D experience) or our unique template approach which is CIPD approved (most suitable for students who are working within an L & D role) where work based evidence is used to support your competency in the subject area.
How we differ from other centres
Our success rate and quality standards are second to none. We consistently outperform the national average exam pass rates (for Advanced qualifications) and achieve outstanding quality assurance ratings from the CIPD. This is because we have developed a unique and rigorous process which begins with a diagnostic consultation as the starting point to any learning engagement. We strive to ensure students are mapped to the correct qualification and then work with them every step of the way to help them achieve success. We are the only CIPD Centre to offer all of the optional units, providing maximum flexibility and choice. You will be supported throughout the programme by a dedicated personal adviser, regardless of which study option you choose.
