Overview

Our CIPD level 3 Foundation Diploma in HR Practice blends a workshop based approach, with our renowned support from a fully qualified dedicated personal adviser. All our advisers hold CIPD Chartered Membership or above and have a wealth of practical HR experience. There is also extensive remote support available through our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and other resources.

This qualification is aimed at anyone contemplating or just starting a career in HR. This highly practical course will equip individuals with the necessary basic skills to become an effective HR administrator or assistant. You will develop the practical skills of interviewing, dealing with sensitive situations, giving feedback and employment advice. Learners are encouraged to involve themselves in practical situations in the workplace where they can and to keep a CPD log to reflect on their learning and how they can embed this into practice. Upon successful completion of the programme you will gain CIPD Associate Membership.

The programme will give you a good grounding in the different aspects of HR and equip you with the skills you might need to progress your career or get your first job in HR. Much of the course is delivered through participative workshops enabling candidates to share knowledge and get an appreciation for the different HR responses that need to be made in different situations and different contexts.

You will have the opportunity to study specialised areas of HR such as Employment Law, Resourcing Talent and Performance Management or to select optional units of your choice which are more relevant to your personal interest and/or suit your organisation’s needs.

Our syllabus and approach offers an ideal balance of interactive and carefully tailored workshops delivered by our specialist staff, self-directed study through bespoke learning materials designed specifically for the Foundation level programme and by the support and guidance from your personal adviser. Also, with this mode of delivery you will benefit from interacting and networking with colleagues working in both HR and line management and will benefit from their different perspectives and experiences

We have achieved outstanding success in our student completion rates and the feedback received from both students and CIPD quality assurance. We provide the widest choice of optional units of any CIPD centre and will offer one-to-one advice to help you make the right choice of units which play to your strengths and identify your key development areas.

We have the strongest track record in using competency based assessment where you can maximise your work experience to further promote your learning and development.

How is This Course Delivered?

We specialise in flexible learning solutions that are tailored to your needs. You can begin the programme at any time and complete it in a timescale which meets your career aspirations and work-life balance needs - anything from 8 to 12 months. As there are a number of workshop dates from which you can choose, you can pace your learning according to your own needs rather than those of a large group of learners or pre-set timetable.

Aside from the workshops, other learning methods include workbooks with reflective activities to help embed your learning, supplementary learning materials and assignments. You will also have regular contact with your personal adviser, who is allocated to you at the start of your programme, through telephone/Skype conversations, e-mail exchanges and/or meetings.

How will it be assessed?

Your personal adviser will provide you with developmental feedback for each unit assessment. This feedback will guide you in terms of your progress with the unit content and advise you on your achievements and what, if any, areas could benefit from further development.

There are no exams for this qualification - each unit is assessed by the completion of a written assessment usually 1,000 - 2,000 words in length. These assessments are delivered via our templates all of which have been approved by the CIPD and are based around the learning outcomes for each module. Some of the units also require assessment of your practical skills such as interviewing and this is either done as part of the workshop programme or you can use a real life work situation to demonstrate your skills.

How we differ from other centres

Our success rate and quality standards are second to none. We consistently outperform the national average exam pass rates (for Advanced qualifications) and achieve outstanding quality assurance ratings from the CIPD. This is because we have developed a unique and rigorous process which begins with a diagnostic consultation as the starting point to any learning engagement. We strive to ensure students are mapped to the correct qualification and then work with them every step of the way to help them achieve success. We are the only CIPD Centre to offer all of the optional units providing maximum flexibility and choice. You will be supported throughout the programme by a dedicated personal adviser, regardless of which study option you choose.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
