On completion of the course you will gain an in-depth understanding of cerebral palsy including the causes, types and developmental impacts of cerebral palsy.
Students will learn what cerebral palsy is and the causes and risk factors as well as gain insights from personal stories which highlight the daily realties and successes of living with cerebral palsy. Students will learn about the importance of support and adaptive strategies in overcoming challenges.
Students will learn about the early signs and symptoms of cerebral palsy and the diagnostic processes and treatments available to help build your awareness of this condition. Students will learn why multidisciplinary evaluation is important and the role of functional assessments.
Students will cover treatment goals and objectives and why a multimodal approach is important. You will explore medical interventions and learn about the role of therapy and rehabilitation including the benefits assistive technology.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.
You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.
Units covered
- Unit 1 - Understanding Cerebral Palsy – In the first unit we will explore the fundamental aspects of cerebral palsy to provide you with a thorough understanding of its nature, prevalence, and the misconceptions surrounding this condition. You will learn about the various causes and risk factors and the different types and classifications

You will learn about the role of functional assessments, and the significance of a family centered approach.
- Unit 3 - Treatment Methods for Cerebral Palsy- In the third unit we will explore treatments options and objectives and why a multimodal approach is important. We will cover medical interventions and the role of therapy and rehabilitation and the benefits of assistive technology. We will learn how these interventions empower people to engage more fully in life’s activities.
- Unit 4 - Empowering People With Cerebral Palsy – In the final unit you will learn about treatment goals and objectives and why a multimodal approach is important. You will explore medical interventions for the management of cerebral palsy and the role of therapy, rehabilitation, and assistive technology.
